Book the Private Adirondack Experience at Castle Hill Inn

The Lawn at Castle Hill Inn is one of the most beautiful spots in Rhode Island. I’ve gone there several times for the sunset and we’d go early to try to nab some of the first-come, first-served Adirondack seats overlooking Narragansett Bay. Sometimes, it was a dog-eat-dog world, where you were running for the same chairs against another couple. Who will come up on top? Manners matter! Luckily, they’ve added many more coveted seats than there used to be, or you can book a table on the patio to ensure prime sunset seating and access to their full lunch and dinner menu. Recently, they’ve also added group reservations for those prime Adirondack chairs.

It’s called the new “Private Adirondack Experience” on the Lawn at Castle Hill. Groups of six or more can book a reservation for their own private seating area, which is available in addition to the traditional first-come, first-served Adirondack chairs that are still open to the public.

The Private Adirondack Experience is being offered daily during the summer months, with three seatings per day at noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Seatings have a limit of two-and-a-half hours, and guests gain access to guaranteed Adirondack furniture and private cocktail and food service. Some of the cocktails are the Newport Spritz, Sunset Paloma and Hemingway Daiquiri. There are local craft beers from Proclamation Ale and wines by the glass and bottle. Bites include sets of rich lobster rolls with crispy onion strings as a topping on buttered and toasted brioche buns; an Adirondack Snack set of eighteen pieces of shrimp cocktail, hummus and pita chips, kettle chips and onion dip, selected cheeses and artisan breads; and caviar service with house fried kettle chips and red onion crème fraiche.

Advance reservations are required, and can be made online through the Events at Castle Hill Inn OpenTable page. Guests who book the experience have the choice to pre-order food and beverage selections from the “add-on” menu when making their reservation. The cost for reservations is $25 per person, seven days a week, plus sales tax and 20 percent gratuity. There is also a minimum booking requirement of six guests. The cost of pre-selected food and beverages, along with sales tax and gratuity are additional and collected at the time of booking. Reservations for the Private Adirondack Experience are all outdoors; reservations cancelled due to inclement weather will receive a full refund.
