Arizona Cardinals' 2023 NFL season: New foods at State Farm Stadium

Jun 11, 2023Jun 11, 2023

Football season is right around the corner. The Arizona Cardinals have spent the last several weeks in training camp and are currently gearing up to kick off preseason with a home game against the Denver Broncos on Aug. 11.

But the athletes aren't the only people at State Farm Stadium who have been in camp this summer. Executive chef Sean Kavanaugh and his team have been busy preparing an exciting lineup of brand-new menu items to be served at the concession stands inside the stadium during the 2023-2024 season.

"As a chef, you know, we're here to make all our fans have a memorable experience. We want to give them something to look forward to, like, 'The Cardinals are winning, and I had something really cool to eat, too,'" Kavanaugh told The Arizona Republic.

Mexican street-corn corn dogs: Kavanaugh said he's particularly excited about the Mexican street-corn corn dog ($10), which will be available to purchase in sections 107, 408 and 420. It's exactly what it sounds like: a crispy breaded corn dog covered in Chico corn, Mexican crema, tajín, cotija cheese, chipotle mayo and jalapeño sauce.

Foot-long fries: Another interesting new menu item are foot-long fries ($9), available to purchase in sections 124, 213 and 235. The fries come drizzled with sour cream and chives, hickory ranch or chipotle mayo sauce. Kavanaugh said he was inspired by Taiwanese street food and wanted to experiment with extra-long french fries of his own. He's still making tweaks to the process — since all stadium foods have to be prepared and served quickly and in large quantities — but he's confident that they will become a bestseller on game days.

Other new menu items at State Farm Stadium include:

A few of the new menu items will be available only for ticketholders on the club level.

Chicken and Bundt cake: Of the new offerings, Kavanaugh said the Big Red chicken and Bundt cake ($14) has gotten a lot of compliments from those who have tasted it so far. The dish comprises jalapeño honey hot glazed chicken tenders served over a maple glazed red velvet Bundt cake.

The inspiration for the dish was chicken and waffles, Kavanaugh said. Waffles are difficult to make quickly and dry out if they are prepared ahead of time, so he experimented with pairing chicken with a Bundt cake, which is easier to prepare ahead of game time. He said he was excited to receive such positive feedback.

The other new concession items available only in the club level sections 203 and 247 are:
